Linux Administration Key Course Features

Linux Simulations

This course includes online Simulation applets that guide you through typical situations you will encounter as a UNIX network administrator. These simulations allow you to enter specific UNIX commands and see the results of those commands without having to leave the learning environment.
On a real UNIX system, many commands can be entered in several ways.
For the purposes of the online simulations, we will specify how the commands need to be entered and supply you with correct answers at each step.
Each simulation is accompanied by a set of text instructions, which describe the steps in the simulation. These instructions provide a review of the material covered that you can use if you are unable to run the Simulation.

The file has the read permission and write permission bits set for the owner. The execute bit is not set for the owner.

Linux Command Display
Occasionally in this course,
  1. MouseOvers,
  2. Slide Shows
will be examined.
When this is necessary, a View Image, View Code, View Slide Show or View MouseOver button will be seen.
Due to browser compatibility issues, subsequent openings of new browser windows may not bring the secondary window to the front and it may be hidden behind your main browser window. You can avoid any confusion by either closing the new window after you have viewed the contents, or moving it to the side so that it is visible along with the main window.

Linux Network Administration Glossary

Many terms used in the course are defined in a pop-up glossary. The glossary terms are italicized and underlined in the lesson or exercise text.
Click a glossary term to open a pop-up window containing the definition. Get acquainted with this feature now by clicking the word glossary in this sentence. In addition, the last lesson in every module reviews the key terms introduced in the module and provides a glossary link for each term.
